Discover the Intermontane

The Intermontane Trail is a new Mexico-to-Canada hiking trail linking existing trails in the intermountain West. Located between the Pacific Crest Trail and the Continental Divide Trail, it highlights the rugged beauty of the region's countless ranges, canyons, and plateaus.

This site several purposes: to popularize the idea for a new trail, to serve as a focal point for discussion and route resources such as maps and resupply information, and to document the 2012 thru-hike of this route.

"Between the Rocky Mountains and the Cascades/Sierra Nevada, among the ranges of the Intermountain West, a new trail is born. Rising from the spirit of its sisters, the Pacific Crest Trail and the Continental Divide Trail, a new adventure is beckoning, with all the beauty and ruggedness of the great American West's peaks, canyons, rivers and plateaus. Answer the call. Discover the mountains within."
